Process

Typical Process Flow

A representative sequence. Final stage design depends on the products, coating system, and facility constraints.

  1. Load
  2. Heat-Up
  3. Cure or Dry
  4. Cool
  5. Unload

Components

System Components

Powder curing ovens

Conveyorized ovens for thermoset powder after the booth.

Tunnel and batch ovens

Pass-through tunnels or batch boxes for mixed products and dry-off.

Heating systems

Gas burners, electric elements or pellet-fired heat, plus aging rooms where specified.

UV curing

Lamp curing for coatings that are specified as UV-curable.

Configuration

Configuration Options

  • Oven dwell set to metal thickness and the coating cure window
  • Heating method chosen from site fuel and process
  • Used on powder, liquid, e-coat and pretreatment dry-off

FAQ

Curing & Drying Ovens FAQ

Answers to the questions we are asked most often when a finishing line is being planned.

How do I choose batch versus tunnel?

Batch ovens suit mixed or low-volume loads. Tunnel ovens suit a steady conveyorized rate. XFS Equipment builds both.

Ovens on an XFS line are process machines with a defined dwell, not empty steel boxes. Powder cure, paint dry-off and UV are selected from the coating, then built in the factory.
